LOL. Yes I have agreed to be Ken's top dog here on the Prescription. Yes I know it is almost unreal because quite frankly I never in a million years saw this coming myself. In fact I have said (and I am sure someone will find it
) "for all the tea in China" I wouldn't moderate a forum, still hard to believe I am agreeing to be here. LOL. I asked Ken to allow me to make the first post as I wanted to give my thoughts first on this matter and hear what others have to say.
One of the big factors that made me accept this position is my departing TOP. If anyone doesn't know that was a forum I had a hand in starting up about 6 months ago, though small in numbers they were very dedicated about trying to look out for the players. About a week ago we decided to part as friends. Too many reasons to go into but the fact remained I had a lot of time on my hands since leaving there. Around this time Ken asked recently if I would sit in on a player/book dispute. I suppose that is when we started talking. TOP was a good idea and they are still my friends but I realized I will have a much bigger platform here. Just sitting in on an issue with Ken showed me there is much work to be done here and I think I can assist. People may be bringing forward negative things I have said about the RX from time to time to "catch me" on something but to me that will only show what I said all along - I have always cared about this place. I wanted it to succeed and took it personal when things slipped or was deemed not important. I make no apoligies on what I said. However with the team we have assembled here and with Ken and I working towards common goals I see a lot of good things happening around here. For everyone. Ken and I are the first to admit we are a potentially volatile combination, LOL. Rumor has it Rio already has a line up on how long this marriage lasts, no wiseguy action please:

All kidding aside I have no idea how long this will work but don't count us out yet. Ken and I agreed to take it slow but I don't like to start a job without finishing it. One thing I will say and had an influence in this was watching Ken work on player/book issues. One of them never even hit the board but I knew the time he had put in. Unfortunately the readers never see what goes on behind the scenes. I think if anything this site has been weak on time management at times and Ken will be the first to admit it. Little things have slipped through the cracks when they shouldn't have but that is all behind us now. Trying to accomodate anyone and everyone often makes it so that no one gets taken care of. For me I am what is called a detail oriented person. I have run a few businesses and while some say they concentrate on the big picture I do not believe that. If you do well on the little things the big things seem to fall in place. I won't pretend to say it is all that easy but the philisophy has always worked well for me.
I want to mention there is no war with anyone. I respect the other sites and have many friends "across the street" and other places. They are legit and to beat them we have to be on our toes. Time or energy wasted by trying to put anyone down will not be tolerated by me. We will try to encourage strong dialogue with the other sites and all books in our efforts to assist the players. The only agenda I will have is to be here to help the players. And BTW when I say help I do not mean to assist only in a book/player dispute. This site will also do more towards leading the players into good books and educating them about other books we have that might interest them. We have a lot of solid books up top we endorse here and we need to spend time on important things like getting players put in them.
I also want to invite any and everyone back here to participate. I carry no grudges with anyone. People will be judged on what they contribute, not on who's ass they kiss. We not only welcome back old one's we will actively be out bringing in new posters. Some ideas I have on these things will hopefully produce new people to these sites. I only need to look back at how I got started to realize we need to foucs on other sports related boards as well for new people instead of fighting over the one's already here. We will take some proactive steps and introduce ourselves to new people who will soon be members of this fine forum.
That's all I will say now so I don't run this into a long post. I am happy to be here and will do all within my power to make this place the best we can be. Input, comments and/or suggestions are always welcomed.
